I hit that Adventure Time Panel FIRST THING Sunday morning. It was totally awesome. I am glad that I just walked right to the panel waiting line it when I got inside, because if I had waited on the General Admission line like the staff was directing and not gotten into the panel I would have felt like a dipshit. (especially after the Avengers line fiasco) In any case, there was a shit ton of sweet ass Adventure Time cosplay, and a heavy favoring of the gender swapped characters. I think that they went over really big with the “Free Hugs” crowd, if you know what I mean. Some costumes were better than others. Obviously that is party pat. Also, can you spot Peppermint Butler in the group photo? I went up to that PB congratulate her on the costume and she IMMEDIATELY started going off about Alister Crowley and all sorts of other crazy ass shit.
I also saw someone in a regular show shirt. I told him his shirt was pretty cool. FOR THE BIGGEST LOSER AT COMIC CON!!! OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!!! He wasn’t too hyped on that. He got the joke though.
So the panel was good. They played a couple of episode snippets (from an upcoming ZOMBIE episode of AT), and many of the various voice actors were there. (not John Dimaggio though) I got up and asked if any of the AT or RS characters would be making an appearance in the upcoming Cartoon Network Super Punch Time Explosion game for Home Consoles. They had no idea. They looked over at the CN executives and they all were like DUH? I take it as a no. Pen Ward was also texting while I asked my question, so he was like “Wait, what?” It was pretty obnoxious. I should have asked the RS guys why the HMM HMM in the pilot ep was different than the one that they normally do on the show… Instead I asked a tried and true standard about stuff they had to pull due to censors.
Then this little girl got up and asked like 6 questions! What a bitch! Pen ward was making all types of promises. People were asking about another Gender swapped ep and he kept being like “Yep, we’re on it” A cd released soundtrack was asked after, and a similar response was given. ”Yes of course we wanna do that” More Tree Trunks? ”Yes” Jake’s shady back story? YES. Seriously, he was just saying yes to anything people asked him. Except for one. NO WAY to a ATxRS crossover. They were pretty adamant about that.
Over all probably the best panel I saw this weekend. Good insight into the characters and creators, as well as some juicy info about upcoming specials. (2 part season ender with Marceline’s dad, and some kinda christmas special) Best crowd for sure. OOOOHHHHH!!!!!!
